Raasay church

2026

A new chapter for a familiar building on the Isle of Raasay.

Working with the Community of Raasay Retail Association, FRAME has developed plans to transform the island's former church into a new village shop and community space.

The project looks to give this prominent building a new lease of life, retaining its character while introducing a contemporary extension to provide the additional space needed for a busy island shop.

The design brings together old and new, with carefully chosen materials, welcoming interiors and sheltered outdoor areas creating a practical and inviting space for both locals and visitors.

At its heart, the project is about securing an important community facility for Raasay while giving an existing building a new purpose for years to come.
