Ullinish Apartments

The sensitive renovation of a traditional stone steading to create three contemporary serviced apartments for the Ullinish Country Lodge on the Isle of Skye. Stripped back to its original stone walls, the building has been carefully restored and reimagined to provide spacious, light-filled accommodation while preserving the character of the historic structure.

The ground floor of each apartment is arranged as an open-plan living space, designed for comfort and flexibility, with bedrooms positioned on the first floor to take advantage of elevated views towards Oronsay Island and the surrounding landscape. Natural materials and a restrained palette create interiors that feel calm, timeless, and closely connected to their setting.

The project balances the robust character of the existing stone building with contemporary detailing and modern standards of comfort, demonstrating how traditional agricultural buildings can be given a new purpose through thoughtful design and careful craftsmanship. The result is a collection of welcoming holiday apartments that celebrate the heritage of the original steading while providing a distinctive place to stay on Skye.
